Genetic Modification
This is my first mod, and since there is no mod like it, I knuckled down and learned how to mod JUST for this!
So, here’s the thing. Genetic Engineering is great. I love it. But there’s a problem.
It takes TOO DAMN LONG! First you have to research the genetics research line. This can vary in time taking from a few dozen years to even a few hundred depending on luck. THEN, you have to get the genetic points. Whether by mods that add in more researches or just the few you get from base game. And THEN the game punishes you FURTHER by making the prices for the gene modding require upwards of THIRTY years on more than one or two planets! Sometimes, even only on one planet! It’s absoluely ridiculous!
So what this mod does is reduce the time required for modification of a species by a factor of ten. This means if it required 18000 months before, now it only requires 1800 months. MUCH more manageable!
This mod should work perfectly fine with all mods, as long as they don’t modify the line TRAIT_MODIFICATION_COST_MULT in 00_defines.lua. I am personally using this alongside Alphamod!
